Ingredients
- 1 pound Italian loaf or French loaf, sliced lengthwise
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 garlic cloves, finely minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
- ⅛ teaspoon sea salt (optional if using salted butter)
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
- Extra parsley and chives for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C).
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Slice the Bread
- Slice the loaf in half lengthwise and place the cut sides up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Make the Garlic Butter
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, and sea salt until well combined. For a spicy kick, add a pinch of chili flakes.
- Spread the Butter Mixture
- Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread. Be generous to ensure every bite is flavorful.
- Bake to Perfection
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- If adding cheese, sprinkle it over the bread in the last 2 minutes of baking.
- Slice and Serve
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Slice into 1-inch pieces, garnish with extra parsley or chives, and serve immediately.
Notes
Use fresh, crusty bread for the best texture. If your bread is slightly stale, you can still use it but toast slightly longer.
For a milder garlic flavor, roast the garlic before mixing it into the butter.
Add your personal twist with truffle oil or smoked paprika.
