Ultimate Pizza Tot Casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make family dinner that combines the flavors of pizza with crispy tater tots.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15-ounce) can pizza sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 (32-ounce) bag frozen tater tots
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, bell pepper, and garlic until the beef is browned and the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly across the bottom.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the beef mixture.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
- Top the tater tots with the remaining mozzarella cheese and sliced pepperoni.
- Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired before serving.
Notes
- For a healthier twist, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef and use whole wheat tater tots.
