Description
Delicious and fluffy Vanilla Mallorcan Bread Rolls, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Mix well to combine.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the warmed milk, softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into strips about 2 inches wide. Roll each strip into a spiral shape and place them on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the rolls to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, substitute half of the milk with cream.
- Add a sprinkle of cinnamon to the dough for a warm spice twist.
