Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Mix well to combine.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warmed milk, softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Cut the dough into strips about 2 inches wide. Roll each strip into a spiral shape and place them on a greased baking sheet.
  8. Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Allow the rolls to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the milk with cream.
