This versatile baked egg delight is your go-to dish for breakfast, brunch, or even a quick dinner. Toasted bread, melty cheese, savory protein or veggies, and a perfectly baked egg combine to create a meal that’s both satisfying and customizable. Easy to prepare and bursting with flavor, it’s sure to become a favorite in your household.

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil (for greasing)
  • 6 slices of toasted bread
  • 6 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices of chicken, ham, or vegetables (such as eggplant or zucchini)
  • 60g of parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 2 cherry tomatoes, sliced
  • 6 eggs
  • Fresh dill (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease a baking dish with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
  • Prepare the Bread Base: Arrange the toasted bread slices evenly in the baking dish, creating a sturdy base.
  • Add Cheese and Protein/Vegetables: Top each slice of toast with a slice of cheddar cheese. Then, add a slice of chicken, ham, or your choice of vegetables.
  • Sprinkle Parmesan and Tomatoes: Distribute the grated parmesan cheese evenly over the protein or veggies. Top with cherry tomato slices for added flavor and a burst of color.
  • Crack the Eggs: Carefully crack an egg onto each slice of bread, ensuring the yolk remains intact.
  • Bake the Dish: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15–20 minutes, depending on how you like your eggs (runny or firm yolks).
  • Garnish and Serve: Remove the dish from the oven and garnish with fresh dill. Serve immediately and enjoy the delicious layers of flavors.

Notes

  • Use fresh eggs and quality bread for the best results.
  • For a vegetarian option, use grilled zucchini or eggplant instead of chicken or ham.
  • To add a kick of spice, sprinkle a pinch of chili flakes over the eggs before baking.
