Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 can (10.25 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 2 packets (1.74 oz total) chicken gravy mix
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- ½ cup sour cream
- Kosher salt (to taste)
- Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
For Serving & Garnish
- Cooked rice or mashed potatoes
- Fresh parsley (chopped)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Chicken
- Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker in an even layer.
2. Make the Gravy Mixture
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, chicken gravy mix, and chicken broth until smooth.
3. Cook the Chicken
- Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken, making sure each piece is covered.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 hours (or HIGH for 2 hours) until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
4. Shred the Chicken
- Once the chicken is fully cooked, use two forks to shred it directly in the slow cooker.
- Stir well so the chicken absorbs all the delicious gravy.
5. Add Sour Cream & Seasoning
- Stir in the sour cream for extra creaminess.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
6. Serve & Enjoy!
- Spoon the chicken and gravy over rice, mashed potatoes, or biscuits.
- Garnish with fresh parsley for a final touch.
Notes
- Use low-sodium ingredients to prevent the dish from being too salty.
- Don’t overcook the chicken—4 hours on LOW is perfect for juicy, tender meat.
- For a thicker gravy, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water and stir it in before serving.
- Chicken thighs can be used instead of chicken breasts for extra flavor.
- Pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes, rice, biscuits, or roasted vegetables.
