Step-by-Step Instructions for Baked Ziti Recipe
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large pot, add water and a pinch of salt to boil. Cook the ziti pasta until al dente, approximately 8-10 minutes.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage for about 5-7 minutes, breaking apart until browned.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce with the cooked meat. Let it simmer for approximately 5 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, mix cooked ziti with ricotta, half of the mozzarella, half of the Parmesan, and basil leaves. Stir until evenly coated.
  5. Layer half of the meat sauce in a baking dish, followed by half of the pasta mixture. Repeat with remaining sauces and pasta.
  6. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
