Preparation Steps
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering, about 1-2 minutes.
- Add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds to the hot oil and fry until they start to pop, about 30 seconds.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of split urad dal and 1 broken red chile pepper, cooking for 1-2 minutes until the dals are golden brown.
- Add 4 cups of finely shredded cabbage to the pan and sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender but crunchy.
- Sprinkle in 1 cup of shredded coconut and drizzle with the juice of half a lemon, cooking for an additional 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat, garnish with chopped cilantro, and let rest for a minute before serving.
