Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown 1 pound of ground beef and 1 chopped onion, stirring frequently for about 5-7 minutes until the meat is cooked through and the onions are softened.
- Next, add 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, and 1 teaspoon of dried parsley to the skillet. Stir and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Transfer the beef mixture into a 4-quart slow cooker. Add 28 ounces of canned tomatoes, 2 cups of pasta sauce, and 1 cup of broth, stirring well to combine.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 3 hours.
- About 15 minutes before serving, uncover the slow cooker and stir in 3 cups of uncooked ziti pasta. Cover again and cook for an additional 15-30 minutes until the pasta is tender.
- Finally, uncover and sprinkle 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese and 1 cup of ricotta cheese on top. Replace the lid and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Dish up your Slow Cooker Baked Ziti and enjoy!

Notes
Check pasta for doneness 30 minutes before finishing to ensure it doesn’t turn mushy. Add cheese during the last few minutes of cooking for best texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
