Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare a 12-cup muffin tin.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine melted butter, neutral oil, vanilla extract, molasses, and brown sugar, then mix in the egg and sour cream.
  4. Fold the wet ingredients into the dry mixture until just incorporated, avoiding overmixing.
  5. Evenly distribute the batter among the muffin cups, filling each about ¾ full and optionally sprinkle with coarse sugar.
