Cooking Steps
  1. Cook the linguine in a pot of salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté minced garlic and diced onion for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef to skillet, season, and cook for 6-8 minutes until browned.
  4. Stir in heavy cream, bringing to a gentle simmer. Add parmesan and red pepper flakes, simmer for 4-5 minutes until thickened.
  5. Combine cooked linguine with sauce, adding reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
  6. Plate hot, garnishing with parsley or thyme if desired.
