Step-by-Step Instructions for Black Forest Trifle
- Bake the chocolate cake according to the instructions or your favorite recipe. Preheat the oven to 350°F and pour the batter into a greased cake pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
- Prepare the whipped cream by beating heavy cream in a chilled mixing bowl. After 2-3 minutes, add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then continue whipping until soft peaks form.
- Wash and pit fresh cherries, slice in half if desired. Set aside to prepare for layering.
- In a clear trifle dish, layer the cooled chocolate cake cubes, followed by cherries and whipped cream. Repeat layers, finishing with whipped cream on top.
