Ingredients

For the Blueberry Syrup
  • 2 cups Fresh Blueberries Opt for seasonal blueberries for the best taste.
  • 1 cup Water No alternative needed.
  • 1 cup Sugar Adjust based on the tartness of the berries; can substitute with agave syrup or honey.
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice Optional, can use lime juice as an alternative.
For the Latte
  • 2 teaspoons Matcha Powder Use high-quality matcha for best results.
  • 2-3 ounces Hot Water Best heated to around 175°F (80°C).
  • 1 cup Milk of Choice Use oat, almond, or any dairy milk; easily substitutable.
  • Ice Ice Regular ice cubes are sufficient.

Equipment

  • Medium-sized saucepan
  • fine mesh sieve
  • Whisk
  • tall glass

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, combine fresh blueberries, water, and sugar over medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil, then lower the heat and let simmer for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  2. Carefully strain half of the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, separating the smooth syrup from chunky bits. Optionally stir in lemon juice.
  3. In a small bowl, measure out matcha powder and add hot water. Whisk vigorously for about 30 seconds until frothy.
  4. Layer 2 tablespoons of blueberry syrup in a tall glass, fill with ice cubes, then pour in your choice of milk.
  5. Gently pour the whisked matcha over the milk to float on top for a layered effect. Drizzle more blueberry syrup if desired.
