- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round baking pan.
- Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples, tossing them with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cardamom.
- In another bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and yogurt; whisk until smooth.
- Gently fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Spread half of the batter into the pan, layer with half the apples, then top with remaining batter and apples.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon for the topping and sprinkle over the apples.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let it cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.
