Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and blend well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
  5. Divide the dough into three portions, coloring two with red and green food coloring.
  6. Refrigerate each colored portion for at least 45 minutes.
  7. Roll out each colored dough between parchment paper and stack them.
  8. Optionally brush with corn syrup and roll in sprinkles.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare baking sheets.
  10. Slice dough log into ½ inch thick pieces and bake for 13-15 minutes.
  11. Cool on baking sheets before transferring to a wire rack.
