Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the lean ground beef, chopped white onion, and minced garlic for about 8–10 minutes until the beef is brown and the onions are translucent.
  2. Drain any excess grease and transfer the mixture into a greased 4 to 6-quart slow cooker, scraping in all the flavorful bits from the skillet.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes, chili beans in sauce, tomato sauce, chili powder, ground cumin, salt, and pepper into the slow cooker. Stir well.
  4. Cover and set the slow cooker to cook on low for approximately 6 hours.
  5. Remove the lid, stir the chili, and serve warm topped with sour cream, grated cheese, and green onions.
