- In an 8-inch cast iron skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat until it becomes foamy.
- Add 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon into the skillet, stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Carefully slice 2 ripe bananas lengthwise and place in the bubbling sauce, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Turn off the heat and pour 1/4 cup of dark rum over the bananas, ignite carefully to flambe.
- Let the rum flame for about 30 seconds or continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes if not flambéing.
- Spoon the warm banana and caramel sauce over scoops of vanilla ice cream and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
