Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Gradually incorporate the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and mix until just combined.
  5. Add the boiling water to the batter, mixing until smooth.
  6. Fold in the orange zest and juice gently using a spatula.
  7. Divide the batter between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Insert a toothpick to check doneness.
  9. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
