Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8-inch baking pan lined with foil and sprayed with cooking spray.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt ½ cup of unsalted butter for 1 minute. Allow it to cool slightly, then add 1 large egg.
  3. Stir in 1/3 cup peanut butter, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gently fold in 1 cup of flour and ½ teaspoon salt until no flour streaks remain.
  5. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips and pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top.
  6. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips on top before baking.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking for golden edges and a set center.
  8. Let cool for at least 30 minutes before lifting out and cutting into squares.
