Ingredients

For the Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour For a gluten-free version, substitute with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Can be reduced for less sweetness or substituted with coconut sugar for a healthier option.
  • 1 tbsp baking powder Ensure it's fresh for optimal rise.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Essential for balancing sweetness.
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Adjust to taste for more or less warmth.
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg Can be omitted or replaced with allspice.
  • 2 cups roasted apples Any seasonal fruit can be used; adjust baking time as needed.
  • 2 large eggs Substitute with flax eggs for a vegan version.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Can be replaced with coconut oil for dairy-free alternatives or applesauce for reduced fat.
For Serving (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter Perfect for spreading on warm slices.
  • 2 tbsp honey Drizzle on top for an extra touch of sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce A lovely addition for a dessert twist.

Method

Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your loaf pan by greasing it with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Whisk until evenly mixed.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, alternating with the roasted apples. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top. Tap the pan gently to remove air bubbles.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
