  • 24 oz Pasta Sauce Choose store-bought or homemade.
  • 8 oz Mozzarella Cheese (shredded) Can substitute with cheddar or a cheese blend.
For the Garnish
  • Basil (chopped) Optional.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  2. Bring salted water to a boil, add penne pasta, and cook for about 7-8 minutes until al dente. Drain pasta and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet, add ground beef, onion, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Sauté for 7-8 minutes until beef is browned.
  4. Stir in cottage cheese and pasta sauce into the meat mixture. Simmer for a few minutes.
  5. Add drained penne pasta to the skillet and gently mix everything together.
  6. Pour the pasta mixture into the greased casserole dish, spreading it out evenly.
  7. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.
  8. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes, garnish with basil, and serve.
