  • 1 lb Ground Beef or ground turkey/chicken
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs gluten-free if desired
  • 1 tsp Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Coarsely Ground Black Pepper or white pepper
  • 1 tsp Dried Onion or fresh onions
  • 1 large Egg or flaxseed meal for vegan version
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard or yellow mustard
For the Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic Cloves minced or garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Dried Thyme or fresh thyme
  • 1/2 cup Dry White Wine or chicken/beef broth
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream or half-and-half for lighter version
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan or nutritional yeast for vegan version
  • 2 tbsp Horseradish to taste
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Chives or green onions/parsley for garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Dice yellow onion and mince garlic. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Form the Patties: Mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, onion, salt, pepper, and mustard in a bowl. Shape into 4 patties.
  3. Sear the Patties: Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet, sear patties for 5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Sauté the Aromatics: In the same skillet, add onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme; sauté for 3 minutes until translucent.
  5. Deglaze the Skillet: Add white wine to the skillet, scrape up brown bits, and simmer for 2 minutes.
  6. Create the Creamy Sauce: Stir in heavy cream, bring to a gentle boil, then add Parmesan and horseradish to thicken.
  7. Return the Patties: Place seared steaks in the sauce, simmer for another 5 minutes.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with chives and serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
