Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prep the Black Beans: Soak dried black beans overnight, then cook until tender, or drain and rinse canned beans.
  2. Cook the Farro: Heat olive oil, add farro, toast, then add water and simmer until tender.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables: Heat olive oil, add onion, garlic, and carrot; sauté until softened.
  4. Mix the Patty Ingredients: Mash black beans, then mix with farro, veggies, herbs, flax egg, breadcrumbs, and spices.
  5. Form the Patties: Shape the mixture into patties about 3 inches wide and refrigerate to firm.
  6. Cook the Patties: Heat oil in a skillet, cook patties until golden brown on each side.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Place patties on buns and add your favorite toppings.
