Preparation Steps
  1. Slice a large yellow onion into 1/2 inch thick rounds. Drizzle with Worcestershire sauce and olive oil, sprinkle with Tony Chachere’s seasoning and brown sugar, and toss until coated. Let marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat and add marinated onion rounds. Caramelize for about 10 minutes on each side until deep brown and soft.
  3. Season ground beef with remaining Tony Chachere’s seasoning, form into thin patties, and cook in a separate skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side, adding cheese at end to melt.
  4. Mix mayonnaise, relish, Dijon mustard, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper to create the special sauce.
  5. Assemble the burger with a caramelized onion slice as the base, top with a beef patty, drizzle with sauce, and finish with another onion slice.
