Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by cubing about 8 cups of stale Italian or French bread and layering it evenly in an 8x11 casserole dish.
  2. Sprinkle 2 cups of diced cooked ham over the layer of bread, followed by 1 cup of chopped fresh asparagus and 0.5 cup of finely diced red pepper.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together 6 eggs with 2 cups of 2% milk, adding salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered bread and fillings in the casserole dish.
  5. Top the dish with slices of Swiss cheese, ensuring even coverage over the entire surface.
  6. Cover the casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or ideally overnight.
