Ingredients

For the Chicken
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast Frozen chicken works too, but adjust cooking time.
  • ½ lb bacon Precook for crispy bits or add as-is for a softer texture.
For the Creamy Mixture
  • 8 oz cream cheese Consider flavored varieties for an exciting twist.
  • 1 packet dry Ranch dressing mix Homemade ranch is a great alternative.
Optional Toppings
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Substitute with Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack if desired.
  • ½ bunch green onions Chives can be used in place for a similar taste.

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by placing the uncooked boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker. Ensure they are spread out evenly to promote even cooking.
  2. Next, scoop the cream cheese on top of the chicken, ensuring it covers the pieces. Sprinkle the entire packet of dry Ranch dressing mix over the cream cheese, and then scatter the crumbled bacon on top.
  3. Cover your slow cooker with its lid and set it to cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours, or on HIGH for 4 hours.
  4. After the cooking time is complete, carefully remove the lid. Using two forks, shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker until it is well combined with the melted cream cheese and seasonings.
  5. If desired, sprinkle about a cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the shredded chicken and replace the lid for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Once everything is combined and melted, serve your Slow Cooker Crack Chicken warm.
