Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil until shimmering. Add 1 pound of ground beef, seasoning it with salt and pepper. Cook for about 6-8 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until it's evenly browned.
- Once the meat is fully cooked, carefully drain the excess grease from the skillet. Transfer the browned meat into your slow cooker.
- In the slow cooker with the beef, add 1 cup of tomato sauce, 1/2 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1 tablespoon of prepared mustard, and 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika. Stir well.
- Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on HIGH for 3 hours or LOW for 6 hours.
- Check the consistency before serving. If runny, simmer with the lid off for an additional 15-20 minutes. Spoon the mixture onto hamburger buns and top with cheese if desired.
- Serve hot with your choice of sides, such as fries or salad.
