  1. Begin by heating a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the lean ground beef and hot Italian sausage, breaking them apart as they brown for about 8-10 minutes. Transfer the meat to your slow cooker.
  2. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and bell peppers. Sauté for 5 minutes until they soften and become fragrant, then stir in the minced garlic for an additional 30 seconds. Transfer the vegetables to the slow cooker.
  3. Add the mild diced green chiles, beef broth, soy sauce, fire roasted diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, and homemade chili seasoning to the slow cooker. Stir to combine.
