For the Frosting
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter If using salted butter, omit additional salt.
  • 8 oz Cream cheese Ensure it’s soft for easy blending.
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar Can be substituted with erythritol for a sugar-free option.
For the Decoration
  • 10 cookies Oreo cookies Double-stuffed Oreos can yield a different texture.
  • 10 pieces Gummy worms Other gummy candies can also work if desired.

Method
 

Cupcake Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and prepare cupcake liners in a pan.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and gently fold together until just combined.
  5. Fill each cupcake liner about ¾ full and bake for 18-22 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cupcakes in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting and Decoration
  1. Melt the milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. In another bowl, beat together unsalted butter and cream cheese until creamy, then mix in melted chocolate and powdered sugar.
  3. Crush Oreos into fine crumbs for decoration.
  4. Once cooled, frost each cupcake with the prepared frosting and sprinkle with Oreo crumbs, placing gummy worms on top.
