Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix chocolate cake mix, pudding mix, sour cream, oil, milk, eggs, vanilla, and salt until smooth (2-3 minutes). Pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for 30 minutes.
  4. Poke holes in the cooled cake with a wooden spoon handle, about 1 inch apart.
  5. Whisk pudding mix with required milk until thick, then pour over the cake to fill the holes. Let it absorb for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Mix heavy cream, powdered sugar, and chocolate pudding to make frosting. Whip until soft peaks form. Frost the cake.
  7. Sprinkle crushed Oreo cookies over the frosted cake to mimic 'dirt'.
  8. Decorate with Milano cookies as gravestones using black gel icing. Position them at various angles.
  9. Add ghost Peeps and candy pumpkins for decoration. Optionally, sprinkle Halloween sprinkles around.
  10. Slice the cake into 12 portions and serve on festive plates.
