For the Dough
  • 1 each Pizza Dough store-bought or homemade
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil for coating the skillet
For the Toppings
  • 1 cup Pizza Sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese whole milk recommended
  • 1 pound Italian Sausage can substitute with turkey sausage
  • 1 each Caramelized Onions cook until softened and sweet
  • to taste Kosher Salt for seasoning
  • to taste Black Pepper for seasoning

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and let the pizza dough rest at room temperature for about 20 minutes.
  2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. In the same skillet, add olive oil and sliced onions. Season with salt and pepper, then cook on low for 10-15 minutes until soft and golden.
  4. Generously coat the bottom of your skillet with olive oil, about 1/8 inch deep.
  5. Stretch the pizza dough to cover the skillet bottom and slightly up the edges.
  6. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese, followed by cooked sausage and caramelized onions.
  7. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
