- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Wash, dry, and core the selected apples, leaving a ½-inch wall.
- Brush the inside of the apples with lemon juice and arrange them in a baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt.
- Add cold, cubed butter to the oat mixture and blend until coarse crumbs form.
- Stir in vanilla extract and chopped nuts into the mixture.
- Fill the apples with the oat mixture, creating a generous mound on top.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
