  • 1 lb Lasagna Noodles Soak in hot water instead of pre-boiling.
  • 30 oz Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese Substituting with cottage cheese changes texture.
  • 1 large Egg Binds the ricotta mixture.
  • 1/8 tsp Ground Nutmeg Can substitute with allspice sparingly.
  • 1 lb Deli-Sliced Mozzarella
  • 1 cup Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese Plus more for serving.

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare Sauce: In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat, adding sausage and beef until browned. Stir in onion and garlic, sautéing until softened. Add other sauce ingredients and let simmer.
  2. Soak Noodles: Soak lasagna noodles in hot water for at least 30 minutes, then drain thoroughly.
  3. Prepare Ricotta Mixture: Combine ricotta, egg, parsley, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl. Mix well and refrigerate.
  4. Preheat Oven: Preheat to 375°F (190°C) for proper cheese melting.
  5. Assemble Lasagna: Layer sauce, noodles, ricotta, and mozzarella in a baking dish, finishing with sauce and cheese.
  6. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 25 minutes until golden.
